7pm
Now don't be fooled by the heading! I've not jumped on the wagon just yet.
I was sat at home again bored out of my tiny head when John told me he
wasn't working today and asked if I fancied a drive out to cure the
deep throat thrombosis that was settling into ever fibre of my being!!!!!!
Of course I said yes so, off we set, map in hand.
While he drove I scoured the area for somewhere to go n decided we'd pop
up to Holmfirth in Yaaaaarkshire where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed.
It's quite a drive from 'Bowton' and took us just over one hour to get there.
I'd heard of a theatre in Holmfirth called 'CragRats' which has a brasserie
attached to it and thankfully it was signposted in the middle of this quaint and
rather unusual hamlet town. We had our lunch there before we decided to park
up outside Nora Batty's house. I got out the car and wrinkled my tights around my
ankles to feel like one of the locals!
I have to say though, I was a bit dissapointed that the place is now a guest house.
It also has a massive sign outside saying 'Summer Wine Experience' and really
could do with a lick of paint. We had a lovely walk around the tiny town but the
streets are all uphill and located in such a way that it made it hard for me to walk
up and see the gorgeous old houses dotted along the hillside.
It started spitting a little (its spitting...everybody in) so we went for a brew in
Sids Cafe which was one of the focal points of the series where Compo and crew
would meet daily. We actually decided that at some point, we would go back to
Holmfirth and probably stay there for a couple of nights as it's a really lovely place
with lots to do if the weathers fine and my backs better...........
......speaking of which
I've got my 1st appointment with the physio on April 3rd. Looking forward to
be being prodded, poked n pulled in every direction.
As for Rosemary Conley!!!!
I've put 'ANOTHER' 2lbs on!!!! Cant blame anyone but myself obviously but
then again all my shoes are too big now but who cares if I've lost weight off my feet....
I cant wear a nice pair of Jimmy Choos on my glutius maximus or jelly belly!!
